Kathleen Dinges is a first generation artist who explores place and memory through both conceptual and craftmaking approaches. Growing up in an immigrant family in Queens and Long Island, New York, objects in the home were quite spare. This shortcoming of physical objects both increased interest and decreased value in the relationship/importance of things to the everyday. She believes in the power of art and community for self empowerment, communication, quality of life and healing. Kathleen's background is in arts education and is centered in a commitment to community.
Kathleen now lives in Oregon with her husband and two growing boys, practices a variety of community arts programming and curation through local arts organizations, and is making work .
